Regularly use a pre-fabricated stainless steel sieve in a pan to steam or warm other food items.

The resistance of the sieve and food items helps increase the heat applied to the food being cooked while resulting in minimum loss of heat energy to the atmosphere.

Items in the strainer may be covered in cling film to prevent moistening of the surface (if required). more

How much would it cost to 'pipe' sunlight half-way across the globe? E <- > W or even N < - > S ?

As in the image across continents or say from the far South to the far North of Norway ?

Harnessed concentrated sunlight enters the optic fibre train and at the other end distributed to, farmland clusters.

Far-fetched? or ahead of the times?

For sake of clarity parts shown are minimal. 'A' - is the gas stove ring burner.

Around the burner is a copper piping at a diameter such that it just touches the outer edge of the full flame.
The piping has an inlet port and an outlet port. The inlet port is fed via a throttle valve from the cold water supply.
The outlet port leads to hot water storage tank situated above the height of the cooking apparatus.

You can get water at about 70 degrees Celcius For 'FREE'.
